Taketsuru Pure Malt được ra mắt lần đầu tiên vào năm 2000, nhằm vinh danh Masataka Taketsuru, người sáng lập Nikka, nhân dịp thương hiệu bước sang thiên niên kỷ mới. Đây là dòng blended malt đầu tiên của Nikka kết hợp malt từ Yoichi (đậm, khói nhẹ) và Miyagikyo (thanh, trái cây).
